Probate Clerk – Wills & Estates Law

Great opportunity to work for a well-established mid-size, family friendly law firm.

We are seeking an experienced Probate Clerk to work within our firm. You will enjoy a very ‘hands on’ role supporting 2 solicitors in our Wills & Estates Law team. Be able to work autonomously and be a team player.

  • You will be experienced in:
    • Preparing Probate and Letters of Administration applications, signing, lodging and distributing estates from start to finish
    • Preparation of Wills and powers of attorney
    • Liaising with clients following the taking of client instructions
    • Liaising with barristers
    • Drafting and preparing documents and correspondence, including briefs
    • Client database management
    • Diary management (Outlook)
    • File management
    • Trust Accounts and associated financial responsibilities
    • Preparing invoices
    • Preparing, sending & receiving correspondence
    • Management of funds on behalf of estates (including investments and bill paying)

To be considered for this role you will be:

Accounts Assistant

We have an exciting permanent part-time opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our team, 3 days a week (10am-3pm), starting immediately.  The successful applicant will show initiative, motivation and exceptional attention to detail.  Previous experience in a legal firm is highly desirable.

The Role:

  • You must be familiar with Microsoft Office 2013
  • Experience using Leap legal software would be desirable
  • Be able to work closely with staff
  • Have a pleasant phone manner

Responsibilities:

  • Processing of office & trust cheques
  • Processing trust EFT’s on Leap
  • Communicate with Banks, from time to time
  • Processing of office and trust receipts
  • Process trust journal entries
  • Trust to office journal transfers
  • Controlled money deposits and withdrawals
  • Rollover of term deposits
  • Filing
  • Banking
  • Invoicing, as required
  • Assist with accounts queries
  • Reconciliation and payment of office accounts
  • Account rendered reminders
  • Investigate unpresented cheques
  • Review and order accounts stationery
  • Processing of annual trust account statements

and any other tasks, as required.  As you become more proficient in the role additional tasks could be added.
