SOLICITOR 1-4 years PAE (Property Law preferred)

We are seeking a full-time solicitor with 1-4 years post-admission experience (Property Law experience preferred) to join our growing firm and be a part of a dynamic and supportive team.

Rennick & Gaynor is an established practice providing legal services in Victoria since 1919 and is located conveniently close to Camberwell Junction.  Our firm specialises in many areas including Property Law, Compulsory Land Acquisition (Victoria), Leases, Commercial Law, Litigation and Wills and Estates.

We are seeking a full-time Senior Property and/or Commercial Lawyer of 5+ years PAE to join our expanding business and be part of a dynamic and supportive team.  We’re looking for someone who values client relationships and enjoys a challenge.

Experience is required in many facets of property and/or commercial law including litigation, leases, adverse possession, owners corporation, retirement villages, buying/selling agreements, compulsory acquisition, duties, GST, land tax, SMSF, mortgages, company shares, subdivisions, Registrar of Titles applications, PPSR, sale/purchase of businesses and franchises.

Your tasks would include:

  • Preparing pleadings and Court documents to be filed with all Victorian Courts, Tribunals and Federal Court
  • Preparing correspondence and letters of demand together with various other correspondences;
  • Drafting of commercial agreements including shareholder agreements, joint ventures and licence agreements;
  • Reviewing and drafting written/oral advice
  • Attending to Court matters and working on small to large scale litigation
  • Negotiation of commercial outcomes
  • Attending client meetings, obtaining instructions and providing legal advice
  • Attending mediations and settlement conferences
  • Attending at Court with and without counsel
  • Exploring all settlement options for clients
  • Instructing expert witnesses and Barristers

To be considered for this role the ideal background of the successful applicant will have:

  • Strong technical experience
  • Excellent research, drafting and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to be adaptable, work autonomously and to deadlines while managing client requirements and expectations
  • Have knowledge of State and Federal Courts and VCAT procedures as well as use of all Court electronic filing systems
  • Practical problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ambitious and motivated
  • Ability to mentor junior colleagues on practice and procedure
